The state-of-the-art map I intended to follow, but then the lovely Henny Lees turned up and gave me a lift. So I can’t actually verify the internet’s claims that it takes 22 minutes to walk from Tension Gallery to the Lovely Gallery.

The Anna Lovely Gallery Open Exhibition 2026

September 16, 2026

“Wednesday news from Alison Aye, sir. It appears she has finally graced the portals of the Anna Lovely Gallery with her presence. By internet calculations, it is a mere twenty-two minute stroll from Tension Gallery in Penge.”

“Penge, Jeeves? Did you say Penge?”

“The very same, sir. It lies on the trans-Thamesian side of the metropolis. The lady currently works at the gallery there. There are those who boldly maintain that Tension is the premier gallery in all of London.”

“Is that so?”

“Indeed, sir. And though the Lovely Gallery is situated but a short pedestrian exercise away from her place of work, it appears she had never previously set foot inside until a couple of days ago.”

“Work, Jeeves?”

“Precisely, sir. A regrettable necessity for some of us.”

“Absolute madness, Jeeves. The mind boggles.”

Henny outside the gallery and Ken Turner’s work in the window. Full disclosure, as they say, but Ken is my frolleague at Tension.

Apologies to my Instagram pal, Rod Kitson. When I finally found your work, the place was too packed for photography.

If you require an explanation for Wodehouse, then here’s a not-very-good-one.
